NON-IDIOMATIC SOUNDSCAPES
Dee Generate (aka Roger Bullen), the boy wonder who shot to fame as Eater's fourteen-year-old drummer during the early punk wars, was back on duty on 19th May when his former band played All Tomorrow's Parties where they got "a great reception". Dee/Roger is also playing with a new, experimental combo called The Murmurists. Here's a snippet from a review of their gig at Club Sporadic by Rod Warner:
"The music is, in the main, defiantly non-idiomatic and they create a long, ever-changing soundscape, playing for over an hour but never flagging -- which is no mean feat. This is music that is cinematic in scope, with broad sonic vistas, rolling clouds of feedback and noise alongside quite delicate episodes where more conventional chords and melodies are brought in and out".
