3:AM TOP 5: TONY WHITE
 Tony White, author of the acclaimed novel Foxy-T and Literary Editor of The Idler, is publishing a travelogue entitled Another Fool in the Balkans: In the Footsteps of Rebecca West which is bound to be fascinating. He is currently listening to:
1. "Delirious Love" -- Neil Diamond with Brian Wilson
"I've always been 'a believer,' even if Tony Tribe's organ-frilled 1968 reggae version of 'Red Red Wine' is far superior to Diamond's original. So it was with some trepidation that I played the new 12 Songs album to see how Diamond had responded to the Rick Rubin treatment. Not bad, not bad. I'm hoping that there's a volume 2 in the works. I will never, never, never again, however, go to see a gig of any description in the grounds of a stately home."
2. "Pretty Cottage" -- Stranger and Gladdy
"I'd been after this Stranger Cole cut for donkey's years, ever since the compilation tape I had it on got chewed up, lost or trodden on. It's collected on the Trojan Revive Box Set, one of the numerous and broadly excellent (though occasionally patchy) reissues they've been bringing out over the past few years. I saw it on my usual CD-selling market stall in Strutton Ground, SW1, yesterday and I've been playing it on 'repeat' ever since."
3. "Everclear" -- American Music Club
"Ah, the early 1990s or so, but still hits a perfect spot. Reminder to self: go and see Mark Eitzel and/or American Music Club whenever they're in town.
4. Resonance 104.4 FM
"London's continually astonishing art/sound/new music community radio station. Guaranteed to surprise, but almost always worth a listen. Those not lucky enough to live within reach of the transmitter in London SE1 shouldn't despair, Resonance is also available as a live stream on together with some archives, listings and various podcasting opportunities. Kicks all other radio stations in to a cocked hat and is the true inheritor of John Peel's mantle -- but so much more besides. They need your support too, because running the best radio station in the world is not cheap and these people are doing it for the love of it.
5. "Sailing By" -- Ronald Binge
"And while I'm on a Radio tip, 'Sailing By', the odd, easy-listening hula-waltz they play on Radio 4 every night to give sailors time and a clear signal to tune in to the Shipping Forecast, or something. Goodnight."
