    3:AM TOP 5: TRINIE DALTON
Trinie Dalton is a very talented writer and artist from Los Angeles who seems to be on the cusp of great things. Wide Eyed, published in Dennis Cooper's fine Little House on the Bowery series (Akashic Books), is a collection of innocently perverse psychedelic fairy tales (and furry tails!) which map out a distinctive kind of laid-back, lo-fi Californian gothic territory. More soon. In the meantime, here is the author's Top 5:

"My taste is all over the place right now. New indie stuff that's great: Espers II, the new Liars, and Growing. The Delta 5 re-release from KRS is also excellent. But I've been digging Alice Coltrane again, after seeing her play the organ live, and I'm having a Stevie Wonder moment again too. John Fahey is for wishing I were good at playing guitar, and early Alice Cooper is always in rotation at our house."

    1. Innervisions -- Stevie Wonder
    2. Hustle! Reggae Disco Compilation -- Soul Jazz Records
    3. Journey In Satchidananda -- Alice Coltrane
    4. Death Chants, Breakdowns, and Military Waltzes -- John Fahey
    5. Easy Action -- Alice Cooper
